Full-time, Monday-Friday

We're working with a leading international law firm who are looking to recruit a Tax Manager to join their Management Accounts team in Leeds.

Reporting to the Group Tax Director, this is a senior tax role with responsibility for UK LLP tax compliance, planning and advisory work across the firm's UK LLP Group. You'll also have exposure to international tax matters, working with finance teams across Europe and Australia and supporting the firm on tax matters globally.

The role would suit an experienced tax professional with a professional services background who can take ownership of tax compliance, advise on changes in legislation and work confidently with senior stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing UK LLP Group tax returns for submission to HMRC
  • Preparing UK LLP income tax computations and UK corporation tax returns
  • Supporting the Group Tax Director with direct tax compliance across the UK LLP Group
  • Working with accounting teams across Europe and Australia on tax matters
  • Developing and improving tax compliance processes
  • Reviewing UK and international tax legislation and assessing its impact on the business
  • Advising stakeholders on issues arising from changes in tax legislation
  • Taking the lead on tax audits, including responding to tax authorities and assessing any changes required following an audit
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns for UK VAT-registered entities within the UK LLP Group
  • Preparing the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement and coordinating associated tax payments
  • Supporting the Payroll and Benefits team with payroll-related tax matters
  • Providing tax guidance and explaining tax processes to colleagues across the business
  • Supporting other areas of the Finance team where required
  • Keeping up to date with relevant UK and international tax developments through ongoing professional development

What we need from you:

  • ATT-qualified or hold another relevant tax qualification
  • Previous experience working in tax and accounting within a professional services environment
  • Good understanding of UK and international tax legislation
  • Understanding of the interaction between tax and accounting standards
  • Awareness of tax issues across international jurisdictions
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness
  • Experience managing tax compliance processes and working with external authorities
  • Confident advising and communicating with stakeholders at different levels
  • Good influencing and relationship-building skills
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience using accounting or legal software
  • Pragmatic, proactive and able to work independently
  • Ability to manage different priorities and work across a wider Finance function
