Tax Operations Associate
Location: Glasgow
Contract: until May 2027
Work Setup: Hybrid - 3 days in the office

Our client is a global financial services firm that manages wealth, navigates complex markets, and design strategic financial objectives. The firm provides risk management solutions across a variety of sectors, emphasizing long-term relationships, and innovative approaches to financial challenges.
This role sits within the Withholding Tax team which is a part of the International Tax Operations Team that supports the firm in managing its tax obligations by owning and driving forward the Operational Tax Risk and Control framework
What You'll Do
- Withholding Tax Operations within the team, managing the firm's tax reclaim population and certification documentation, including account set‑up for tax purposes, creation and issuance of tax vouchers, and implementation of regulatory changes across ITU and partner departments.
- Process and prepare tax reclaim forms and supporting documentation for submission to external custodians and tax authorities, ensuring correct tax treatment of firm assets and adherence to prescribed steps and controls.
- Reconcile securities positions and related taxable events, investigate and resolve breaks and exceptions, and escalate risks in withholding tax processes to senior management and stakeholders for sign‑off.
- Ensure timely submission of all tax documentation and filings to custodians and tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions, maintaining compliance with complex and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Engage with global stakeholders-including Front Office, Finance, Legal, and external custodians-to support client requests, resolve withholding and reporting issues, and provide audit‑ready documentation and responses.
- Review day‑to‑day withholding tax processes, monitor controls, and escalate operational and compliance risks, ensuring robust governance over tax obligations and exceptions.
- Contribute to process improvement and technology initiatives that enhance systemic tax processing, automation, and data quality, supporting the broader technology strategy for tax operations.

What You Bring
- Experience in tax operations or broader operations within banking or financial services (open to experience within middle office, equities or fixed income)
- Experience with withholding tax (WHT) and risk associated with WHT processes would be beneficial
- Experience with booking models / settlement models would be nice to have
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and investigative skills
- Confident in collating, presenting and critically analysing high‑volume data, and articulating the impact and risk associated with work.
- Highly committed, dynamic and self‑motivated, with a professional outlook and a flexible approach to adapting to changing departmental and market needs.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including data manipulation, reporting and presentation.
