Tax Opportunities – Tax Associate, Senior Tax Associate & Tax Manager
Shropshire (Hybrid)
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 DOE
Are you looking to develop or progress your career in tax within a growing and well-respected accountancy firm?
Seymour John is delighted to be working in partnership with our client as they continue to invest in and expand their tax function. We are currently recruiting for three tax positions, offering opportunities for professionals at different stages of their career:
- Tax Associate – £30,000–£34,000
- Senior Tax Associate – £34,000–£38,000
- Tax Manager – £38,000–£45,000
These are exciting opportunities to join a collaborative team and gain exposure to a varied client portfolio, with the added opportunity to develop your expertise across UK and US taxation.
Tax Associate | £30,000–£34,000
This role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their tax career who is keen to build their technical knowledge and work towards professional qualifications.
- Support the preparation of UK and US individual tax returns, tax compliance activities, and tax research, while working alongside experienced tax professionals.
- Develop client-facing skills and take on increasing responsibility as your experience grows.
Requirements:
- Some previous experience in a tax-related role, including relevant internship experience.
- A basic understanding of UK tax regulations.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in taxation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- AAT or ATT in progress, or a willingness to work towards a relevant qualification.

Senior Tax Associate | £34,000–£38,000
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Tax Associate looking to take the next step in their career and develop towards a future Tax Manager position.
- Take responsibility for more complex tax returns, support tax planning and advisory assignments, manage client relationships, and review the work of more junior colleagues.
- Develop your knowledge of US personal taxation.
Requirements:
- Typically 3–5 years’ experience within a public accounting or tax environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK taxation.
- Experience preparing complex tax returns.
- Experience managing client engagements and deadlines.
- Strong client-service and communication skills.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues.
- AAT or ATT qualification; ACA/ACCA desirable.
- UK and/or US tax experience would be advantageous.
Tax Manager | £38,000–£45,000
For an experienced tax professional ready to take ownership of a client portfolio and play a key role in the continued growth of the tax function.
- Provide tax compliance, planning, and advisory services, review complex tax work, manage client relationships, and provide technical leadership across the team.
- Supervise and develop junior tax professionals and contribute to process improvement, business development, and the future direction of the tax offering.

Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in a tax-focused accountancy or public accounting environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK and/or US taxation.
- Significant experience across tax compliance and advisory.
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients.
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and technical work.
- Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring tax professionals.
- Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
- ATT/CTA qualification; ACA/ACCA desirable.
- CPA/EA or equivalent would be desirable for US tax specialists.
