Job Opportunity: Tax Senior

Location: Kingston, Surrey

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time or Part Time

TPF Recruitment, the leading accountancy practice recruiters in the South, are delighted to be supporting a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice with the recruitment of an experienced Tax Senior to join their expanding tax team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced personal tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients and wants to take ownership of a varied portfolio. The role offers genuine responsibility, flexibility, and the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the tax department.

The Role

You will manage your own portfolio of personal tax clients from start to finish, providing a high-quality service and practical tax advice.

The role is hands-on and would suit someone who enjoys the detail of personal tax, solving client queries, and building strong relationships, whilst also being keen to contribute to improving systems and processes within a growing practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients from start to finish
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and building strong relationships
  • Setting up and managing client files
  • Overseeing the preparation and submission of personal tax returns
  • Reviewing tax returns to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Providing practical advice on income tax planning and CGT matters
  • Responding to ad hoc client tax queries
  • Managing HMRC correspondence and enquiries
  • Resolving tax issues efficiently on behalf of clients
  • Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of tax processes and systems
  • Maintaining quality control across tax return preparation
  • Contributing to technical research and keeping up to date with relevant tax legislation
  • Working collaboratively with the wider tax team and supporting colleagues during busy periods
  • Identifying opportunities to develop and expand the tax service offering

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

  • ATT qualified or qualified by experience
  • Strong experience within personal tax
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Confident managing a portfolio of personal tax clients
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax
  • Experience dealing with HMRC correspondence and enquiries
  • Good understanding of income tax planning and CGT
  • Confident and personable when dealing directly with clients
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Organised and able to manage competing deadlines
  • Process-minded with an interest in improving systems and ways of working
  • Ambitious, proactive, and keen to develop
  • A strong team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues
