Tax Senior / Assistant Manager | Up to £45,000 | Leeds | Hybrid

Are you an experienced Tax Senior or Assistant Manager looking for a role where you'll have genuine client exposure, work across both personal and corporate tax, and have the opportunity to develop your career?

We're working with a long-established independent accountancy practice in Horsforth that is looking to strengthen its tax team with an experienced Tax Senior / Assistant Manager.

Established for almost 90 years, the firm has built a strong reputation for the quality of its work and the relationships it develops with clients. The Leeds office has recently undergone a significant refurbishment, creating a modern and professional working environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid practice experience who is looking for greater responsibility, a varied workload and a clear route for progression within a supportive and established tax team.

The Role

You'll work across a varied portfolio of individuals and businesses, with responsibility for a mixture of personal and corporate tax compliance and advisory work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, including HNWIs, company directors and partnerships
  • Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns
  • Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations and CT600s
  • Dealing with client queries and providing day-to-day tax advice
  • Liaising directly with clients and building strong long-term relationships
  • Managing payment reminders and other client correspondence
  • Liaising with HMRC on a range of tax queries
  • Working with solicitors, accountants, tax advisers and independent financial advisers
  • Supporting clients with tax planning and more complex tax matters
  • Assisting with Making Tax Digital requirements and quarterly submissions
  • Reviewing work completed by more junior members of the team
  • Supporting the Tax Manager with more complex assignments and projects
  • Helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the tax department

What They're Looking For

You'll ideally have:

  • Several years' relevant experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong experience across personal tax, with some corporate tax experience
  • Previous experience preparing and/or reviewing personal and corporation tax returns
  • Good technical knowledge and a keen eye for detail
  • Strong communication and client management skills
  • The ability to manage your own portfolio and workload
  • A proactive and organised approach
  • The confidence to deal directly with clients and provide practical tax advice
  • Ideally, experience of reviewing work or supporting more junior members of a team

A formal tax qualification would be advantageous, but they're open to candidates at different stages of their professional development.
