Tax Expert (AI Taxonomy & Data Annotation)
Location: London (Hybrid – 10 days WFO/month)
Contract: 6 Months
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Tax Expert to support an AI-driven Taxonomy and Data Annotation initiative. This is not a traditional Tax Filing or Tax Return preparation role. The successful candidate will combine strong tax domain expertise with an understanding of technology, AI, and data-driven projects to help improve AI models used in financial and tax applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop annotation guidelines for tax and financial datasets.
- Collaborate with engineering and AI teams to define financial data taxonomies.
- Review AI-generated outputs and identify inaccuracies, edge cases, anomalies, bias, and hallucinations.
- Provide subject matter expertise on tax legislation, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Bridge the gap between technical teams and tax compliance requirements.
- Validate and improve AI training data quality.
- Participate in testing, validation, and continuous improvement of AI-driven tax solutions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure tax accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in Tax Accounting, Tax Filing, and Tax Return preparation.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, CA, CPB, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debit and credit concepts.
- Experience in business finance and tax compliance.
- Knowledge of tax data analysis and basic SQL.
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Awareness of AI technologies and how AI tools work.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams on data taxonomies, annotation guidelines, testing, and validation.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and audit-oriented mindset.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deliverables effectively.

Preferred Experience
- Experience with tax software implementation, configuration, testing, or design.
- Exposure to AI, Machine Learning, Data Annotation, or AI model validation projects.
- Experience working on digital transformation or tax technology initiatives.
- Background in financial software or fintech environments.
