The Person
We are looking for a highly-skilled Teacher who is passionate about improving life chances for all through a professional commitment to making a difference for all of our children and young people so that they achieve their full potential. As a teacher in Fife you will be responsible for leading learning within your classroom context, promoting inclusion, diversity and equality, communicating with other stakeholders and for contributing to wider improvements across the school community.
You will be responsible for teaching Numeracy, Literacy, Social Sciences and Skills for S1/S2. This post will include responsibility for:
- Planning appropriate lesson content for young people, including those with additional support needs;
- Tracking and monitoring attainment across benchmarks and Es&Os in Literacy and Numeracy;
- Working closely with subject specialists to create content;
- Delivering skills based learning focusing on a number of meta skills;
- Providing a calm and purposeful classroom environment.
Due to an increasing school roll we are in a position to advertise 2 BGE posts. The successful candidates will be part of a supportive team that is committed to excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements
You are required to have high levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to lead and manage the school community, both at strategic and operational levels, to ensure continuous improvement.
You are required to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional learning as a school leader through career-long professional learning activity and to be able to show how this has impacted on your practice.
Full General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) registration.
For posts within Primary you are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in Primary.
For posts within Secondary you are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in Secondary for the specific subject.
You are required to model all behaviour expected of a teacher in Scotland in line with the relevant Professional Standards.
Full registration is required for all Permanent posts, for temporary class teacher posts, provisional GTCS registration in the relevant sector will be considered.
Candidates holding GTCS registration in Further Education must also hold Primary or Secondary registration to meet the essential criteria as determined by Fife Council.

As of 1 August 2020 all successful candidates appointed to a permanent Headteacher role in Scotland are required to hold the Standard for Headship, through completion of the Scottish Qualification for Headship (SQH), Flexible Route to Headship (FRH) or Into Headship. For those appointed, who do not yet hold the Standard for Headship, you will be required to complete the Into Headship qualification within 30 months of appointment. Please note: that those candidates who already or have previously held a permanent Headteacher position are not required to complete the Into Headship programme and will not need to complete it within 30 months of appointment.
Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
The relevant legislation on the management of denominational schools in Scotland states: "A teacher appointed to any post on the staff of any such school by the education authority... shall be required to be approved as regards religious belief and character by representatives of the church or denominational body in whose interest the school has been conducted."
