Job Title: Teacher - Business and Economics

Location: Mount House School, Hadley Wood, EN4 0NJ

Salary: Up to £46,171.35 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: January 2027

About The School

Mount House School is a small, nurturing co-educational day school in Barnet, North London. With a maximum of sixty students per year group, every child is known, cherished, and challenged, enabling them to flourish across academic and co-curricular life.

Role Purpose

At Mount House School, we are seeking an inspiring educator to join our thriving teaching community and help students develop the knowledge, confidence, and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented teacher to deliver engaging Business and Economics lessons, contribute to a dynamic curriculum, and play a key role in supporting students both academically and personally.

As a Teacher of Business & Economics, you will teach students across Key Stages 4 and 5, fostering a love of learning and helping students achieve excellent outcomes. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons, monitoring progress, providing effective feedback, and creating an inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive.

As part of the wider school community, you will also act as a Form Tutor, contribute to the school's co-curricular programme, and actively promote Business and Economics across the school.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring Business and Economics lessons that motivate students to achieve their full potential.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning effectively, using data to track progress and raise achievement.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment that supports student wellbeing and success.
  • Act as a Form Tutor, providing guidance, support, and regular communication with parents and carers.
  • Lead and promote Business and Economics enrichment opportunities, clubs, and educational trips.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring teaching resources and schemes of work remain innovative and up to date.
  • Participate fully in the wider life of the school, including events, meetings, option evenings, and co-curricular activities.

What You Will Bring

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications required
  • Experience teaching Business and/or Economics within a secondary setting required.
  • An excellent classroom practitioner with a strong understanding of effective teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Up-to-date subject knowledge and a passion for curriculum development.
  • Ability to analyse and use student data to improve outcomes and inform planning.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and educational excellence.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students of all abilities.
  • Values teamwork, collaboration, and building positive relationships across the school community.
