The Appointment
This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, professional individual qualified in an appropriate discipline to join a forward thinking college to develop and teach across a range of courses and across all disciplines. The primary focus will be teaching on courses in Education and Early Years delivering programmes based in the Directorate of Health, Education and Wellbeing.
You will be responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment of learners and also to carry out the role of personal tutor for specified groups of learners.
The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of and professional experience within the sector. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and administrative skills showing a flexible and professional attitude. You will be required to have an excellent team player attitude to work with the existing team to retain their excellent success and progress measures.
You will ideally be educated to degree level and will possess a relevant teaching / training qualification.
A full-time teaching role has 828 delivery hours.

The Post
2.1 Main Duties And Responsibilities
- To co-ordinate, design, deliver and develop a programme(s) of study for a group(s) of learners ensuring a high quality learning experience is provided.
- To work with the Head of Department, Programme Area Lead and other teachers in developing best practice in learning, teaching and assessment, ensuring standardisation and continuity.
- To assess learners according to established guidelines and provide a positive learning experience.
- To promote and monitor the attendance, retention and achievement of learners on a continuous basis, ensuring that all appropriate documentation is completed, readily available and in line with college procedures.
- To develop flexible part-time and full-time programmes ensuring that they meet the requirements of the provision and learner needs.
- To design, develop and monitor resources for learner use.
- To act as personal tutor to a group(s) of learners supporting their Individual Learning Plans and co-ordinate tutorial support liaising with subject teachers and wider college provision.
- To maintain appropriate standards of learner behaviour in accordance with college policies.
- To contribute to the internal and external quality assurance procedures in line with Awarding Body and college requirements.
- To implement quality procedures, contributing to thorough, evaluative programme reviews which feed into the self-assessment process and also undertake internal verification.
- To keep up-to-date with curriculum initiatives, development of standards and general developmental and professional issues relating to the delivery of learning in your area.
- To complete documentation, appropriate records of learner performance and administration associated with role and responsibilities.
- To contribute to the planning of trips and visits within the area, including the creation and monitoring of the necessary risk assessments.
- To attend and contribute to relevant meetings within the Directorate and the college.
- To implement the college’s mathematics, digital skills and English Policy.
- To participate in parent evenings, open events and interviewing applicants.
- To take responsibility for and participate in continuous professional development.
- To work flexibly, as directed by the line manager.

- To uphold and promote college policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work, including the Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety policies and procedures and attend training as requested.
- To comply with the college’s own safeguarding policy and practices and attend training as requested.
- To keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of the job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques and attend relevant mandatory training.
- To be conversant with and participate in activities and developments at college, regional and national level which are relevant to the post.
- To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the college.
- To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.
