We are looking for a strong practitioner with a passion for teaching English, who is confident and skilled in working with learners who have SEMH needs. We can offer a well-resourced department and a great team of people to work with.
Tor School is Pupil Referral Unit based in Glastonbury, Yeovil and Chard. Tor School is committed to providing the best education possible for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in East Somerset.

Job Purpose
To carry out the functions of a teacher in accordance with the Teacher Standards, the Tor Traits, staff dispositions and the Tor Staff competences contained in the Person Specification.

To provide high-quality, personalised education to pupils who attend Tor School Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). The role requires the teacher to support the design of, and deliver a curriculum that is accessible, engaging, and supportive, helping pupils overcome challenges, build self-confidence, and develop positive attitudes toward learning. The teacher will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to each pupil's development and reintegration into mainstream education or further suitable provisions, where appropriate.
Children attending Tor School will have a wide range of needs, and often very complex needs, which every teacher will strive to meet. The nature of a PRU is often unpredictable and therefore adaptability is a key trait that enables teachers to fulfil their purpose, along with a willingness to understand the needs of each learner, work as a team and have the flexibility to manage varying lengths of placement, effectively.
