Teacher in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Teacher in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the teaching and learning in Dental Hygiene and Therapy across the whole range of the Division’s programmes, but with a focus on our undergraduate BSc programme in Dental Hygiene and Therapy.

You will be responsible for:

  • Teaching practice/design and the development of own teaching and learning skills.
  • Ensuring the content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives as outlined in the curriculum.
  • Supervision, examination and assessment and reviewing students’ performance and progression both clinically and academically.
  • Participating in curriculum course development.
  • Participating in admissions, open days and selection activities.
  • Liaison with external bodies to ensure positive working relations.

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • BSc or Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy or equivalent.
  • Registered with the General Dental Council.
  • A minimum of two years post-qualification experience in Dental Hygiene Therapy.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience of teaching undergraduate dental students.
  • Experience of clinical supervision of undergraduate dental students.
  • Hold or working towards a recognised teaching qualification.
