About Our School

Bitterne Park School is an 11-19 mixed, community school and Sixth Form and is set in eighteen acres of grounds overlooking the River Itchen and Riverside Park.

In September 2017, the school moved into its new building, which has allowed us to fully embrace the ethos and values that the school has been striving for. The bright and modern learning environment is centred around an atrium, which is at the heart of the school. Each of the classrooms is bright and spacious with fully interactive touch screen projection and improved IT. We are particularly proud of our Performing Arts facilities. We have drama studios, practice rooms, music rooms and a dance studio, in addition to the high specification theatre, dance studio and music facilities in the Sixth Form building.

The school also has a multi-sports hall, tennis courts, netball courts, basketball courts and an outdoor table tennis area as well as a full size, all weather, 3G pitch.

Bitterne Park School has a key role to play in the local community with many local groups using our facilities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We teach students to explore and engage with a wide range of art forms, artists, styles and cultures to develop their cultural capital, wealth of possible careers and pathways towards a succeed in their future.

We provide the creative learning environment and space for students to work independently to investigate a broad range of Art themes with tailored support to meet every learner's needs. They learn to analyse Art and Design with good critical, contextual and historical contexts from a diverse range of artists, styles and cultures. They blend this research with imaginative execution and practice to develop their own unique Artworks.

Our students quickly engage in Art practicals with KS3 years 7 to 8 students develop the necessary skills to explore the Self, Still-Life and Landscapes, including Natural Forms and Popular Cultures. They develop important observational knowledge in drawing, painting, 3D modelling and Clay work for outcomes. In year 9 students can select the option of Fine Art and then take this into GCSE at KS4 or not. At KS4 students can select GCSE in Fine Art GCSE, Textiles and Photography and then at our excellent Bitterne Park Sixth Form Collage, take A Levels in Fine Art, Graphic Communication and or Photography with many students progressing on to university or other education.
