Brighton College Teacher of AI Position

Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Teacher of AI to join its new AI Department in September 2027.

The Department

The successful candidate will be joining a brand new department at one of the UK’s leading independent schools. One of the most forward-thinking schools in the country, Brighton College is renowned for its innovative curriculum which provides its pupils with a modern and meaningful preparation for life beyond the school. From September 2027, all pupils in the College will receive weekly AI lessons, delivered by the AI department alongside academic subject specialists.

The school has enjoyed great academic success in recent years, both in terms of academic results and university success. Our Upper Sixth regularly receive over 40 Oxbridge offers, with an increasing number of our leavers also receiving offers from the very top universities around the world, particularly in the United States. This success is underpinned by our excellent A-level and GCSE results. 2026 saw 89% of grades being either a 9 or 8 at GCSE, with our A* percentage at A-level regularly around 45% and our A*-A figure around 85%. The Teacher of AI will contribute to the success of pupils at College by preparing them to use AI in effective and inspiring ways in both their current work and in developing their competencies and ambitions towards their futures.

Role Specification

As artificial intelligence reshapes education and the workplace, Brighton College is developing an ambitious, sector-leading AI programme embedded within its curriculum. In partnership with pioneering research institutions and blue-chip technology companies, the school aims to prepare pupils and staff to use AI creatively, responsibly and effectively.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach AI to pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 working in collaboration with subject specialists. They will also be expected to work alongside the Director of AI in developing and resourcing curricula and schemes of work, with a willingness to adapt these in order to reflect the ever- changing nature of AI. As this will be a new department, the successful candidate will be expected to be flexible and willing to contribute to its development and expansion over the coming months and years.

The successful candidate will be an AI native with a strong technical understanding of generative AI and its implications for education and work. If they have taught previously this might have been in any academic discipline, and it is likely that they will be able to give concrete examples of how AI has enhanced their teaching practice.
