Job/Person Summary
About us:
We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology to join our academy. The successful candidate will be required to teach practical lessons across KS3 and KS4 to the highest standard, with the flexibility and enthusiasm to teach a mixture of 3D Design and Food. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make a positive difference to academy life and to help shape the future of Design Technology at Oasis Academy Mayfield.
You must be able to use a range of teaching strategies to inspire and motivate our students, bringing Design Technology to life through engaging, practical and ambitious learning experiences. We are looking for a passionate teacher who is committed to high standards, enjoys sharing best practice with colleagues and is keen to contribute to the continued development of our curriculum.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape our KS3 Design Technology curriculum and contribute to the development of the KS4 options offer. Experience of teaching 3D Design and/or Food would be an advantage, but we welcome applications from colleagues with the skills, creativity and willingness to teach across these areas. Flexible working requests, part time applications and applications from ECTs are all welcome.
Oasis Academy Mayfield is a fantastic place to learn and work. Our last Ofsted visit was in April 2024, where we were judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas, since then we believe that we have moved yet closer to our aim to become the exceptional school our community deserves. We are excited to welcome applications from future colleagues who share our enthusiasm for education and dedication to transforming the community we live in and serve. We value strong relationships with our parents and carers, and know that through working closely together it is ultimately our young people who benefit.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
