Job Title: Teacher of English

Location: Quinton House School

Salary: £45,000.00 per annum (FTE pro rata)

Hours: 30 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: January 2027

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of English to join our dedicated English department. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire a love of language and literature while delivering engaging and challenging lessons that enable students to achieve their full academic potential.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Teaching high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and, where applicable, Key Stage 5.
  • Creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences that challenge and inspire students.
  • Monitoring progress and providing effective feedback to help students achieve excellent outcomes.
  • Supporting examination success while fostering a genuine enjoyment of English beyond the classroom.
  • Contributing to curriculum development, assessment and departmental improvement initiatives.
  • Promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance and student engagement.
  • Supporting the pastoral development and wellbeing of students.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, clubs, trips and events.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external professionals to support student achievement.
  • Upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and student welfare.

About You

You will be a passionate and knowledgeable English teacher who is committed to delivering outstanding learning experiences and helping every student realise their potential. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or an ambitious early-career teacher, you will bring enthusiasm, creativity and a genuine love of your subject.

We Would Love To Hear From Candidates Who Have

  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
  • The ability to teach English Language and Literature to GCSE level, with A Level teaching experience desirable.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for developing students' literacy, communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent classroom practice, with the ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities.
  • Effective assessment and feedback skills that support student progress and achievement.
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to working as part of a successful team.
  • High expectations of students and a commitment to raising aspirations and outcomes.
  • A willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment and extracurricular activities.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wellbeing of every student.
