About the Role
Know your causation from your correlation? Your primary sources from your propaganda? Your urbanisation from your industrialisation?
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, passionate teacher of History and Humanities who can inspire our pupils by delivering engaging, high-quality lessons. If you're an experienced teacher ready for a new challenge, we've got something special for you.
History will be at the heart of your teaching. We want someone who can bring the past to life while also helping pupils develop the skills of a historian: questioning evidence, considering different interpretations, making connections and constructing well-reasoned arguments.
You'll teach across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils explore everything from individuals and events to the bigger themes of power, conflict, migration, belief and social change.
But we're a small school, and we want to be upfront about what that means. Your timetable may not sit neatly within the boundaries of one subject. Depending on the needs of the timetable and your own experience, you may also teach within other Humanities disciplines. You don't need to arrive as an expert in everything, but you do need to be curious, adaptable and willing to develop your knowledge. For the right teacher, that breadth is part of what makes the role interesting.

We believe excellent teaching develops when teachers have the time and space to think deeply about their practice. That's why professional development happens every week. Our weekly PD sessions give colleagues regular opportunities to explore teaching and learning, share practice, deepen subject knowledge and think together about what will make the biggest difference to our pupils. We're embedding the use of StepLab to support this work by helping us turn evidence-informed ideas into deliberate practice, reflection and practical improvements in the classroom.
