Outstanding Teacher of Design and IT
An outstanding teacher of Design and IT is required for January 2027. The School has a long-standing record of high academic achievement (94.2% of A-level entries gained A* to B grades in 2026, 83% were A/A*, 60% Grade 9 at GCSE, 84% 9/8 and 97% 9-7 GCSE in 2026). There is also much happening in terms of co-curricular activities, and all staff are expected to be fully involved in School life.
Role Overview
The post will involve teaching Design, IT and Art to years 6-9. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, confident in CAD/CAM, able to demonstrate strong subject knowledge and be deeply passionate about their teaching. The successful candidate will have a meticulous and professional approach to their teaching, and they should be able to inspire and motivate pupils to work independently. The structure of the faculty of Innovative Design and Visual Arts brings together Art, IT&C and Design Computing and Robotics (DCR).
Curriculum and Opportunities
We teach the Edexcel A Levels and every year a number of pupils go on to high tariff universities to pursue a Foundation Year and other associated courses linked to Art & Design, especially Architecture. At GCSE we offer the AQA Fine Art GCSE as well as 3D Art & Design. Lower School classes are small and we are able to ensure access to a wide range of media. There is a rich supra-curricular programme, including competitions, life-drawing classes and trips. In recent years there have been trips to Japan, Venice and Yorkshire as well as an exciting range of day trips, utilising our fabulous location.

About the School
CLS was named by the Sunday Times as London Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020, and occupies fine, modern buildings near St. Pauls Cathedral overlooking the Thames, opposite the Tate Modern. There are impressive off-site sports facilities in southeast London.

Compensation
CLS Teaching Pay Scale £42,500 £67,300 (plus two progression points to £69,490 and £71,740) 2026 - 2027.
