An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Science & Physics to join our team at our excellently resourced Anderson High School, Lerwick.
Our beautiful location offers great opportunities for learning and we benefit from an excellently resourced school, at the heart of a caring, supportive community.
About Anderson High School
- Type: Six year school
- Location: Lerwick, Shetland
- Community Served: Shetland, including associated primary schools of Bell’s Brae, Hamnavoe, Nesting, Scalloway, Sound, Tingwall and Whiteness. Also serves pupils from Fair Isle and Foula, and all Shetland pupils for S5 and S6, except those attending Brae High School.
- Transport Arrangements: Extensive transport into Lerwick
- Halls of Residence: Accommodation available for pupils unable to travel each day
- Enrollment (August 2025): 975 pupils
- Head Teacher: Mr Robin Calder

Candidate Requirements

Additional Information
- Grade of this post: TCHR
- Salary: Inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,997 per annum (pro rata)
- Hours: Permanent Full Time post for 35.0 Hours per Week
- PVG Scheme: Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
- GTCS Registration: Must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) prior to starting in post
- Flexible Route Probationers: Applications welcome
