The Job
Atherton High School wishes to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Design Technology. If you are experienced, enthusiastic, open to new ideas and have a flexible ‘can do’ approach, we would welcome an application from you. Applications welcome from ECTs.
What does this job do?
- To implement and deliver a broad, balanced, relevant and ambitious Design & Technology curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils.
- To demonstrate strong subject knowledge and deliver high-quality teaching in Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring high expectations for pupil progress and achievement.
- To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
- To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
- To share and support the Academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
What are the job requirements?
- QTS Qualified (ECT applications welcome)
- Excellent professional knowledge and understanding of national and examination curricular requirements of the subject
- Excellent knowledge of Design Technology with the ability to plan lessons with clear objectives to ensure progression for all students
- Established as an effective teacher across the age and ability range
- Good knowledge of current educational research relating to the subject and wider aspects of how pupils learn
- A thorough understanding of and commitment to safeguarding children and young people
- Some experience of successfully teaching to KS3-KS4 students, with a clear understanding of the teaching provision required in secondary schools
