Teaching Assistant - SEMH / PLMD Support
Reeson Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in the WA1 area of Warrington.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting ASAP, with the potential to secure a permanent position within the school for the right candidate.
The school has a strong commitment to inclusion and provides a supportive, nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. In this role, you will work closely with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PLMD), helping them access learning, develop confidence, and regulate their emotions within a structured classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH, PLMD, and additional learning needs.
- Support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional regulation, and engagement.
- Work closely with the class teacher to adapt activities and learning materials to meet individual needs.
- Use a calm, patient, and consistent approach when supporting behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Help create a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
- Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, social skills, and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families where appropriate.

You Will Ideally Have
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, PLMD, SEN, or additional learning needs.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who require additional support.
- Confidence in supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour.
- A genuine commitment to helping children develop both academically and personally.
- Availability to commit to a full-time, long-term role.
