General Teaching Assistant
Location: Blackley
Contract: Long-term, ongoing
Full time/Part time: Full time
Pay: £102-£115 per day
Start date: September 2026
Expected End date: End of the academic year
Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm
A welcoming school in Blackley is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a long-term, ongoing basis until the end of the academic year.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing throughout the school day. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children and wants to make a positive difference within a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons and activities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
- Helping pupils stay focused and engaged with their learning
- Assisting with classroom activities, resources and preparation
- Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
- Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment
- Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime
- Helping to promote independence, confidence and positive relationships
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school team
- Providing general classroom support throughout the school day

The Successful Applicant Will
- Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting
- Be enthusiastic, patient and nurturing
- Have a positive and proactive approach to supporting pupils
- Be confident working as part of a team
- Be able to build positive relationships with children and staff
- Have good communication and organisational skills
- Be adaptable and willing to support pupils across a range of activities
- Have full-time availability from September
- Hold a valid Child Workforce DBS or be willing to obtain one
- Have the right to work in the UK
