Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: Manchester, M19
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: GBP14.25 - GBP16.65 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time
Contract: Long-Term (Potential Temp-to-Perm)
Reeson Education is recruiting for a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the M19 area from September. This full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant role would suit someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference and enjoys working in a fast-paced, rewarding environment where no two days are the same.
The school is looking for a confident Teaching Assistant who is willing to roll their sleeves up, become part of the wider school team and provide exceptional support to pupils across the school. A significant proportion of the children have SEND, particularly Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, so previous experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and additional learning needs is highly desirable.
The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with class teachers to support learning, deliver interventions and provide both general classroom support and targeted SEND support. There may also be occasions where the Teaching Assistant is asked to lead a class during short periods of staff absence.

Teaching Assistant: Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils academically, socially and emotionally, helping to create a calm, engaging and inclusive learning environment. You'll work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, providing both general classroom assistance and tailored support for pupils with additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Teaching Assistant who enjoys building positive relationships and making a real difference every day.
Teaching Assistant: Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality classroom support
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions
- Support pupils with SEND including SEMH, ASD, ADHD and behavioural needs
- Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience and engagement
- Work alongside teachers to adapt learning and meet individual pupil needs
- Support behaviour management strategies and promote positive outcomes
- Assist with planning, preparing resources and maintaining an organised learning environment
- Confidently lead a class when required during short-term staff absence
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
- Play an active role within the wider school community
Teaching Assistant: Requirements
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
- Strong experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH
- A positive, resilient and proactive approach with a willingness to get involved
- Confidence supporting whole classes and the ability to lead a class when required is highly desirable
- Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
