Job role: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: North Somerset
Salary: £93 - £100 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: September 2026
About The Role
Connex Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support pupils in primary schools across North Somerset, specifically in the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT), as well as other local schools!
This rewarding role involves providing personalised support to an individual pupil, helping them access learning, build confidence, and reach their full potential academically and socially. You will collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and other school staff to deliver tailored support that meets the pupils' unique needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support for a pupil throughout the school day
- Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Adapt learning activities to suit the pupil's individual needs
- Encourage engagement, participation, and independence in the classroom
- Implement strategies from support plans and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) when applicable
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and external professionals
- Monitor progress and give feedback to teaching staff
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Assist the pupil during transitions, breaktimes, and structured activities as needed

Person Specification
- Experience working with children with additional needs is beneficial but not essential
- Previous experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals is desirable
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable in supporting learning
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to apply
