Teaching Assistant (Specialist SEND Support)

Location: Worksop, Nottinghamshire

Working pattern: Full-time, term time plus, permanent

Start date: As soon as possible

Closing date: Friday 16 October 2026

About The Role

Worksop College and Ranby House is a single school community spread across two sites, educating children aged two to eighteen. The school has excellent facilities in a beautiful setting, and it values every pupil's individual strengths, whether academic, sporting, musical or creative.

The school is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a Senior School student who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You'll work closely with teaching staff and the Learning Support Department to help the student access learning, build confidence and take part fully in school life.

The role suits someone who can build trusting professional relationships, recognise barriers to learning and respond with sensitivity, flexibility and good judgement. Your support will encourage independence and emotional wellbeing, and help the student take part in both lessons and wider school activities.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the student's engagement, wellbeing and participation throughout the school day
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship that develops confidence, resilience and independence
  • Working with teaching staff to put agreed support strategies in place
  • Adapting, clarifying and reinforcing learning in lessons where needed
  • Monitoring engagement, wellbeing and readiness to learn, and responding as needs change
  • Supporting personalised learning approaches and the use of assistive technology
  • Encouraging self-advocacy, independence and good learning habits
  • Helping to deliver and review EHCP provision and outcomes
  • Supporting agreed exam access arrangements when required
  • Working with colleagues, parents and external professionals to support the student's progress and wellbeing

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
