About The Role

Join our team at Longdon Park in Burton as a Teaching Assistant and help young people aged 14–19 with additional needs build confidence, develop independence and prepare for life beyond school.

This is more than supporting learning in a classroom. You’ll be part of a dedicated team helping young people discover what they can achieve, develop practical life skills and overcome barriers that may have previously held them back.

Whether you’re supporting a student through a challenging moment, celebrating a breakthrough or helping them master a new skill, your support can make a lasting difference.

Please note: You may be required to work across either of our sites: Longdon Park, DE65 6GU or Longdon Parkway, DE14 2WD.

What you will be doing

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support based on individual needs and goals.
  • Support engaging, practical and creative learning both in and outside the classroom.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help students feel safe, understood and confident.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Help young people develop independence, resilience and essential life skills.
  • Celebrate progress, however big or small, and motivate students to keep moving forward.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider professionals to provide consistent, personalised support.

What You'll Bring

You don’t need to have worked in a specialist setting before. What matters most is your attitude, resilience and genuine desire to help young people succeed.

You’ll Bring

  • GCSE Grade C/Level 5 or above in English and Maths.
  • A patient, positive and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • The confidence to respond calmly to changing situations.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people with additional needs reach their potential.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
