Teaching Assistant
Term Time Only + 5 Inset Days (39 weeks per year)
Hours: 35 per week; 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work with our client's teaching and other support staff to mentor, support and inspire their pupils with curriculum and non-curriculum based learning.
- Help prepare the classroom and learning spaces
- Create displays and exhibitions of the children's work
- Prepare for different activities
- Support pupils who need extra support to complete tasks or have difficulty engaging with schoolwork
- Watch for challenging behaviour and help pupils promote positive behaviour
- Offer emotional support to help pupils in their emotional and social development
- Inform other staff about any issues
- Help pupils become independent learners, stay focused and engaged in the tasks and lessons set by the Teacher
- Explain different tasks and activities
- Assist with a wide range of classroom and school-based activities
- Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils
This may include listening to children read, reading to them, or telling them stories.
About You
- Trustworthy, enthusiastic, energetic, well-organised, and self-motivated
- Passionate individual dedicated to ensuring all children are supported to achieve their best
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong and appropriate relationships with children and parents / carers
- Outstanding numeracy and literacy skills
- Genuine passion for making learning engaging and irresistible for children
- Adaptability to support the individual needs of each child
- Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating a high level of professionalism

Experience working with children across the primary curriculum, including those with social, emotional, and mental health needs, is desirable, however if you have experience and a commitment to continuous improvement of your own practice, our client would love to hear from you.
