SEN Teaching Assistant - Andover
Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist education setting in the Tidworth, Wiltshire, area that is looking to appoint a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant for September 2026.
This role would suit someone with experience working with children or young people who may have SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or behavioural needs.
You will become an important member of the school's support team, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and providing the encouragement and structure they need to make progress.
The Opportunity
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Working alongside teachers to help deliver accessible and engaging learning
- Providing additional support to pupils who require help accessing the curriculum
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and social skills
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils
- Supporting classroom routines and maintaining a safe, calm learning environment
- Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff to meet individual pupil needs

Previous experience with behaviour management or positive handling approaches such as PRICE or TeamTeach would be beneficial.
What We're Looking For
We are keen to hear from candidates who have
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
- Previous experience in a school, SEN, care, youth work, or similar environment
- A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
- Confidence dealing with challenging behaviour
- A patient, consistent, and emotionally resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The flexibility to adapt to different pupils and situations
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Relevant qualifications are welcomed, but experience, attitude, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils are equally important.
An Enhanced DBS will be required before commencing the role. Candidates who are already registered with the DBS Update Service are encouraged to apply.
