Salary: School Support Scale 711 (FTE £26,403 - £28,142). Actual salary £20,038 - £21,357 per annum.

Hours: 32.5 hours per week.

Working Pattern: Term Time Only (39 weeks).

Contract: Permanent.

Location: Kingsway Park High School, Rochdale.

Start Date: Dependent on notice period.

Kingsway Park High School is seeking a passionate and committed Teaching Assistant to join our Additional Needs team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs within a vibrant, inclusive mainstream secondary school.

Working alongside teachers, the SENDCo and wider pastoral team, you will help students access learning, develop confidence and independence, and experience success both academically and personally. Through positive relationships, targeted support and high expectations, you will play an important role in helping every student achieve their full potential.

We welcome applications from people with experience in education, youth work, care or other roles supporting children and young people. Above all, we are looking for someone who is patient, resilient and committed to making a genuine difference.

About The Role

You will:

  • Support students with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs in the classroom.
  • Deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups.
  • Help adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Promote students' confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
  • Support students' social, emotional and communication development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team and external professionals.
  • Monitor and record student progress, contributing to support planning and reviews.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through duties and enrichment activities.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Has experience of, or a passion for, working with children and young people aged 11-16.
  • Can build positive relationships that motivate, encourage and inspire.
  • Is patient, adaptable and resilient.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can support the diverse needs of individual learners.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, inclusion and equality.
  • Is organised, proactive and committed to professional development.

Experience of supporting students with SEND, SEMH or additional needs would be advantageous but is not essential.
