About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who can work in a team and under the instruction of others. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for working with young children and would like to achieve their apprenticeship in a primary school environment. The role will be based in both key stage 1 & 2.
Wage
- £15,392 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
- National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices

- Please note as this apprenticeship is based in a school the wage is paid term time only on a pro rata basis. Please discuss at interview.
Training Course
- Teaching assistant (level 3)
Hours
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 8.15am - 4.15pm
- Tuesday: College, 9.00am - 4.00pm
- 37 hours a week

What You'll Do at Work
- Plan and deliver challenging learning activities for individuals and groups of children under the professional direction of a qualified teacher, implementing IEP’s
- Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment as agreed with the teacher.
- Monitor and record pupil responses and learning achievements, drawing any problems which cannot be resolved to the teacher
- Plan and evaluate specialist learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as required
- Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
- Assist pupils with eating, dressing and hygiene as required, whilst encouraging independence
- Supervise individuals and groups of pupils throughout the course of the day including supervision in the classroom and playground.
- Have a calm approach with high expectations
- Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school
- Be an excellent role model for all children at all times
- Work in a highly professional and confidential manner at all times
- Assist class teachers with day to day class duties
- Undertake other duties from time to time as the headteacher requires
- Attend staff and team meetings
- Participate in appropriate CPD opportunities
- Liaise between parents and outside agencies in a professional manner
- To support with breakfast or after school club
- To attend college 100% of the agreed time and to produce course work in a timely manner

Training

- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Essential Qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other Requirements
- Employment offer will be pending successful DBS and reference checks.
