Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship – Tong Leadership Academy
Are you passionate about nurturing young minds and helping children embark on their educational journey? We seek enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in our vibrant school setting.
Key Details
- Salary: £18,703.00 U21 and £23,134.00 21 (pro rata £16,087.10 and £19,898.35 per annum) increasing to National Minimum Wage after 12 months
- Working hours: Monday – Thursday, 07:30 – 15:30pm & Friday 07:30 – 15:00pm (30 min break), 37 hours per week
- Location: Tong Leadership Academy, Westgate Hill Street, Bradford, BD4 6NR
- Apprenticeship Details: 16 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).
- Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider)
As a Teaching Assistant you will contribute to the development of a strong, effective school with an emphasis on promoting a culture of educational excellence, within a caring and secure environment enriched with the values of discipline, mutual care and respect which extends beyond the school into the wider community.
Responsibilities
- Provide one to one, small group and/or in class support for identified students with additional needs including those with a statement of special educational needs (or an Education, Health and Care Plan).
- Adapt or modify materials and resources to ensure full access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Support student access to the curriculum by differentiating learning activities where appropriate.
- Develop a positive relationship with the student to support progress and attainment and promote self esteem and independence.
- Deliver intervention and support strategies for specific students as directed by the teacher.
- Support the use of ICT in learning activities.
- Provide information and support to teachers and other support staff as to the most effective methods of support for students with learning needs.
- Liaise with the SENCO and specialist staff (e.g. Occupational Therapist or Speech and Language Service) as requested.
- Liaise sensitively and effectively with parents and carers; and participate in feedback meetings with parents under the teacher’s supervision.
- Assist the SENCO in the development, monitoring and review of the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Attend specific training as and when required or requested by the SENCO.
- Assist in student supervision and management of student behaviour, in line with school procedures.
- Keep and update records as agreed with the teacher.
- Support the teacher by contributing to the delivery of local and national learning strategies and recording achievement, progress and providing feedback to the teacher.
- Provide feedback to the teacher regarding student achievement.
- Administer and contribute to the invigilation of examinations as required.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of the school’s ethos and mission through their own outstanding professional conduct and high expectations of others.
- Be aware of and comply with policies relating to safeguarding (including child protection), health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
- Assist in providing an atmosphere in which effective learning can take place.
- Support the promotion of positive relationships with parents and outside agencies.

Essential Skills
- Must have GCSE in Math and English Grade 4/C or above.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- A strong commitment to inclusion and overcoming barriers to learning and achievement.
