Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship – Chalkwell Hall Junior School

Key Details
- Salary: £8 per hour (increases to NMW after 12 months)
- Working hours:
- Monday 9am – 3pm
- Tuesday 7.30am – 3pm
- Wednesday 9am – 6pm
- Thursday 9am – 6pm
- Friday 9am-3pm
- 32 hours per week (term time only) 25 hours in class and 7 hours at Our Conkers Breakfast and After School Club
- Location: London Road, Chalkwell, Leigh-on-sea, SS9 3NL
- Apprenticeship Details:
- 16 months expected duration to complete
- Working towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
- All learning is delivered online/ remote
- Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider)
As an apprentice you will assist the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Extended School Clubs Manager and Teachers by carrying out non-teaching tasks in relation to the classroom activities of the children. Your day-to-day duties will include:
Support for pupils
- To work with individual children or small groups of children on various aspects of the social and academic curriculum under the guidance of teachers.
- To attend to children’s personal needs to include help with social and health training and simple first aid.
- To help build children(s) confidence.

Support for the teacher(s)/extended school club Manager
- Simple creation, repair and maintenance of teaching aids and apparatus.
- To help reinforce learning.
- To help supervise play activities and tidying up.
- To have formal meetings with teachers to enable planning and preparation for lessons.
- Where appropriate to act as liaison between students and the teacher.
Support for the school
- To assist with activities outside the classroom to include supervising children visiting places outside school, in playgrounds, dining areas or as required.
- To be aware of school policies and procedures, including those relating to confidentiality.
Support with the curriculum
- To be involved in activities which will promote the inclusion of children with special needs and EAL within the class.
- Such other duties allocated at the discretion of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Inclusion Manager, Extended Schools Manager or Teachers to meet the needs of pupils and the circumstances of the school, commensurate with the grade of post.

- Achieved GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths
