Summary
A great opportunity to support pupils’ learning, attend to pupils’ personal needs and to provide general support in managing pupils and the classroom, under the direction and supervision of a teacher or line manager (e.g. Higher-Level Teaching Assistant).
Wage: £12,896 to £20,488.52, depending on your age

Salary is based on term-time working. NM Wage is age related - 16-17yrs- £10,987.2, 18-20yrs- £14,901, 21+ £17,455 per year. Access to Local Government Pension scheme.
Hours
The working week is Monday to Friday, 31.25 hours per week, times to be confirmed. Term time only 31 hours a week

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- To provide general support with learning activities (e.g. literacy, numeracy, to enable pupils to understand instructions and to ensure they remain on task, establishing productive working relationships, acting as a role model and setting high expectations)
- To prepare the classroom as directed for lessons and to clear afterwards
- To follow all school policies and procedures especially surrounding safeguarding
- To assist with the supervision of pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
- Monitoring pupil progress to achieve good pupil outcomes
- To assist pupils in using resources e.g. ICT
- To assist the teacher to deliver a pupil’s individual behaviour/education plan
- To report to the teacher on pupil progress and achievements in accordance with school policy
- To report to the teacher any pupil problems or behavioural difficulties
- To assist with the personal needs of pupils including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
- To participate in school visits, assisting with activities as required
- To undertake routine clerical duties including bulk photocopying

What you'll learn
- Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
- Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
- Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
- Adapt resources to support all learners.
- Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
- Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
- Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.
Training schedule
You will attend a local training provider, either online or in person, usually on a three week basis, to gain a 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
Attend a school induction
Gain a health & safety qualification
Attend enrichment activities to enhance your knowledge e.g. interview techniques, health & wellbeing, finance, disability awareness
Have the chance to attend marketing events and also take part in activities during National Apprenticeship Week
Requirements
Essential qualifications
- GCSE in: English Language (grade 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent)
- Maths (grade 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent)
