Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Norton College, Tewkesbury, GL20 8UQ
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8:30am - 4:00pm
Salary: £22,160.63 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: October 2026

We're looking for compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our specialist team. This is far more than a classroom support role. Every day, you'll help young people build confidence, overcome barriers, celebrate achievements and develop the skills they need for a successful future.
Whether you're supporting learning in the classroom, encouraging positive relationships, or helping a student navigate a challenging moment, you'll play a vital role in their journey. No two days are the same, but every day is meaningful.
Working alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral teams, you'll be part of a supportive environment where young people are encouraged to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting students in lessons, both 1:1 and in small groups.
- Helping young people engage with learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Encouraging confidence, independence and positive behaviours.
- Building trusted relationships that help students feel safe and supported.
- Working closely with teachers, families and wider professionals to meet pupils' needs.
- Supporting students' emotional wellbeing and personal development.
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

What you will bring
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.
- Positive, adaptable and able to think on your feet.
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a team.
- Committed to helping pupils develop academically, emotionally and socially.
Previous experience working with children, young people or individuals with additional needs would be beneficial, although we also welcome applications from people with transferable skills and the right attitude.

Norton College is a specialist school in Tewkesbury, supporting young people aged 11–19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism and complex learning needs.
