Role
This is a full-time, on-site Teaching Assistant role based at our sites in North Shields and Blyth. The Teaching Assistant supports the delivery of engaging lessons, with a focus on both academic content and creative, sport-based and personal development activities. Daily responsibilities include:

- Working directly with students in small groups and one-to-one, helping to reinforce key learning objectives
- Supporting classroom management
- Preparing learning materials
- Assisting with lesson setup and transitions
- Monitoring student progress
- Providing encouragement and guidance to help learners build confidence
- Collaborating with teaching staff to adapt activities to different learning needs
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Qualifications
- Experience in assistant teaching and supporting educators in classroom or small-group settings
- Strong communication skills, including clear verbal communication and active listening with young people and staff
- Background or training in education, youth work, or a related field, with an understanding of inclusive and alternative education approaches
- Ability to support learning in core subjects such as mathematics and to help students build foundational academic skills
- Demonstrated experience working with children or young people, including the ability to build trust and manage behavior positively
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting learners with diverse needs and backgrounds
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and follow safeguarding and child protection policies
- Relevant certifications or qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) are highly beneficial; prior experience in an educational or youth support setting is a plus
