Reeson Education is looking for a caring, resilient, and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Wigan.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who enjoys working closely with children who require additional support and wants to make a real difference to their day-to-day learning and development.
The successful candidate will support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PLMD), and other additional needs. You will work alongside the class teacher and wider school team to ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and able to engage with their learning.
The Role
As An SEN Teaching Assistant, Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day.
- Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities.
- Supporting children with communication, emotional regulation, and social development.
- Encouraging positive behaviour through a calm and consistent approach.
- Helping pupils manage transitions and changes throughout the school day.
- Adapting activities and resources to make learning accessible.
- Promoting independence and encouraging pupils to develop their confidence.
- Building positive relationships with pupils and becoming a trusted member of the classroom team.
- Working closely with teachers and other school staff to support individual pupil needs.

What We're Looking For
Previous experience working within an SEN setting would be beneficial, particularly experience involving SEMH, PLMD, complex needs, or challenging behaviour. However, the school is also open to candidates with transferable experience and the right attitude.
