Teaching Assistant

Permanent Contract to commence 19th October 2026

32.5 hours per week-term time only

8:20 am to 3:20 pm Monday to Friday

Full Time Equivalent £24,796

Actual Pro rata Salary £18,378

2026 Pay Award pending

This is an excellent opportunity to join Fir Tree Primary School and Nursery, a primary school within the Newbury Academy Trust. We are a popular school with a full cohort, striving for achievement for all our pupils. We are seeking to appoint and support an enthusiastic and dedicated individual, who wants to work with children and young people, as a Teaching Assistant in either our mainstream or resource provision.

In return our school and Trust will invest in your training and future career, providing opportunities to work across the Trust and the wider local area.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Support children in lessons to access the curriculum and in interventions where required
  • Be able to work closely with a range of teachers and professionals
  • Have a sound general level of education including Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Be able to communicate effectively with parents, children and colleagues
  • Have a good sense of humour
  • Be enthusiastic and patient
