Summary
Are you passionate about making a difference with children as they embark on their educational journey? We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice in our welcoming primary school.
Wage
£13,936 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
£8.58 per hour, increases to NMW after 12 months.
Training course
Teaching assistant (level 3)
Hours
Monday to Friday, between 8:30am to 3:30pm, and until 4:30pm on a Wednesday (CPD afternoon).
33.5 hours per week.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you’ll be an essential part of the classroom team, helping young learners grow and thrive every day. You’ll support both the teacher and pupils, while developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed for a successful career in education. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting classroom activities and supervising children
- Assisting pupils with their learning and development
- Providing additional help to children who need it most
- Learning classroom behaviour strategies and teaching techniques
- Helping to plan and prepare sessions
- Encouraging pupil independence, inclusion, and engagement in learning
- Supporting children’s emotional, social, and physical well-being

Entry Requirements:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at grades A*-C / 9-4

What you'll learn
- Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
- Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
- Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
- Adapt resources to support all learners.
- Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
- Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
- Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Apprenticeship Details – 16 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).
Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider). More training information Online learning, off the job. No college or day release. Off-the-job training will follow the time allocations outlined in the Occupational Standard.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in: English (grade 4/C or above)
- Math (grade 4/C or above)
