Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Hillingdon Manor School, Uxbridge, UB8 3HD
Salary: £24,675 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 38.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: October 2026

About The Role

You don’t need years of classroom experience to join us. If you’re great with people, patient when things get challenging and passionate about helping young people succeed, you could already have many of the skills we’re looking for.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be much more than an extra pair of hands in the classroom. You’ll become a trusted and consistent role model, getting to know pupils as individuals and helping them build the confidence, independence and skills they need to succeed.
Some days you might help a pupil understand something they’ve been struggling with. On others, you could help them regulate their emotions, develop a new skill or find the confidence to take part in something they previously avoided.
The small wins matter here – because they can lead to life-changing progress.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support, helping pupils engage with learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
- Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning activities.
- Encourage pupils to develop greater confidence, communication, independence and social skills.
- Support emotional wellbeing and behaviour using calm, consistent and positive approaches.
- Get involved in activities across the wider school day, helping make learning enjoyable and meaningful.
- Recognise and celebrate progress, encouraging pupils to see what they’re capable of achieving.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to create a positive, inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.

About Us
At Hillingdon Manor, we provide specialist education for 185 pupils, aged between 10 and 19. Located across two sites, our Secondary School supports around 125 students. Our students are taught in smaller class sizes and all students work towards a variety of qualifications dependent on their needs and ability.
The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each pupil’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide students with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable, and understanding.
For over 19 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
