As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll be there for those moments.
A primary school in Truro is looking for someone to provide additional support to children with needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and other learning and communication differences.
Where you'll fit in
You'll work within the classroom team, but your attention will often be focused on the pupils who need something additional to access the school day successfully.
For some children, that might mean breaking an activity into smaller steps or providing one-to-one support.
For others, you may be helping them communicate, manage transitions, regulate their emotions or develop the confidence to participate alongside their classmates.

Your Support Will Include
- Working one-to-one and with small groups
- Supporting pupils with EHCPs and individual learning goals
- Adapting activities and resources with the class teacher
- Using consistent approaches to behaviour and emotional regulation
- Supporting communication and social interaction
- Encouraging children to try things independently
- Helping pupils manage routines and transitions throughout the school day
- Observing progress and sharing feedback with teaching staff
- Providing personal care where required, sensitively and respectfully
The person matters
Previous experience with SEN is valuable, whether that comes from a school, care, youth work or another child-focused environment.
But this role also needs someone who can be patient when progress takes time and consistent when a child needs to experience the same reassuring approach day after day.

You'll need to be comfortable adapting to different children and situations, working closely with colleagues and providing both encouragement and clear boundaries.
An Enhanced DBS will be required. If you don't currently have one, you'll need to be willing to complete the application process.
The practical details
This is a full-time, term-time position in Truro, paying £90 per day.
You'll join a supportive primary school and gain valuable experience working with a range of additional needs. There may also be opportunities for longer-term placements or permanent work.
