Year 1 Teaching Assistant
📍 Location: L9 Area, Liverpool
📅 Start Date: September
⏰ Hours: Part Time – 3 Days Per Week
Role Overview
Milk Education is recruiting a motivated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, two-form entry primary school in the L9 area of Liverpool.
This part-time role is ideal for someone who has recent experience working with children aged 4–8 and is looking to develop their skills within a supportive Key Stage 1 setting.
You will work closely with the Year 1 class teacher to support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally during this important stage of their education.
Classroom & School Support
- Welcoming two-form entry primary school rooted in the local community
- Supportive Year 1 teaching team
- Additional SEN Teaching Assistant support where required

Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and well-structured learning environment
- Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, confidence, and engagement
- Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources
- Monitor and record pupil progress where appropriate
- Support phonics, early reading, writing, and maths activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staff

Essential Criteria
- Recent experience working with children aged 4–8 within the past 12 months – essential
- Experience working within a school, nursery, childcare, tutoring, or similar educational setting
- Experience supporting children within KS1 is desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN is beneficial
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, nurturing, and child-centred approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
