EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant EYFS ASD and SLD
Location: Feltham
Job Type: Full-time, long-term
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, school hours
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Are you an experienced SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting children with Autism (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)?
A specialist school in Feltham is looking for a committed and experienced SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant to join its EYFS provision and support young children with complex additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with younger pupils and understands the importance of creating a calm, structured, and nurturing environment.
About The EYFS Teaching Assistant Role
As an EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider specialist team to support pupils with their learning, communication, development, and day-to-day needs.
The EYFS Teaching Assistant Role Will Include
- Supporting children with ASD and SLD within an EYFS classroom
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting communication, interaction, and language development
- Helping children engage with play-based and structured learning
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behavior
- Helping pupils develop independence and confidence
- Supporting transitions, routines, and activities throughout the school day
- Working closely with teachers and other professionals
- Providing personal care when required
- Supporting pupils with toileting, nappy changing, and feeding
- Maintaining a safe, positive, and consistent learning environment

What We're Looking For
Previous experience supporting children or young people with ASD and SLD is essential.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked as:
- SEN Teaching Assistants
- Specialist Teaching Assistants
- Learning Support Assistants
- SEN Support Workers
- Autism Support Workers
- Residential or Care Support Workers
- Other professionals with relevant specialist experience
You will need to be:
- Calm and patient
- Calmly assertive and confident managing behavior
- Reliable and punctual
- Consistent in your approach
- Comfortable working with pupils with complex needs
- Willing to provide personal care
- Comfortable supporting toileting, nappy changing, and feeding
- A strong team player
- Passionate about helping children become more independent
Previous EYFS experience is advantageous, but relevant ASD/SLD experience is more important.
