Job Summary
A fantastic primary school in Sunderland is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term ongoing basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed professional with proven SEND and challenging behavior experience to make a meaningful impact within a supportive and well-respected mainstream school.
Working days: Monday to Friday.
Working hours: 08:30 – 15:30
About the Role:
- Full-time Teaching Assistant role supporting pupils with both mainstream and SEND with challenging behavior in a mainstream school
- Supporting learning, emotional regulation, and positive behavior in the classroom and wider school environment
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff
- Implementing individual education plans (IEPs), behavior plans, and tailored support strategies
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant
- Challenging behavior and SEN experience preferred
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with additional needs
- Strong behavior management skills and ability to build positive relationships
- Reliable, committed, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
