30 Hours 40 minutes per week (plus 35 training hours spread across the first year only)

The Bridge School is a friendly, welcoming school with a supportive staff team who are committed to making a difference. We are an all-age special school for pupils with profound, complex and severe learning difficulties operating across multiple sites within Telford, each providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment tailored to the needs of our pupils.

Our main aim is that pupils achieve and progress in an environment where they are safe, happy and treated with respect at all times. The most recent OFSTED (July 2025) graded the school as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our committed team.

As a Teaching Assistant at The Bridge School, you will:

  • Support pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties throughout all aspects of their school day and education
  • Assist with communication development using AAC, sensory strategies, and specialist approaches
  • Provide personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support as appropriate (full training provided)
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, professionals and families
  • Support pupils on educational visits and in the local community
  • Help deliver engaging activities tailored to individual needs
  • Build trusting relationships that support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, safety, and independence
  • Be flexible and confident in working across multiple sites as required to meet the needs of the school
  • Make a difference to the lives of the children and young people you support and their families

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is caring, patient and committed to supporting pupils with complex needs
  • Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
  • Is a resilient and reliable individual
  • Is adaptable, creative, and able to respond to pupils’ individual needs
  • Is willing to learn specialist skills and approaches used within the school
  • Can work confidently across different sites within the school community
  • Has experience in SEN settings (desirable but not essential) Induction training is provided for the first year of employment and then ongoing CPD
