Role Summary
We are seeking a Teaching Fellow to join our Adult Nursing Department, supporting the delivery of high-quality services across the University.
In this role, you will contribute to leading and coordination of sessions that are the statutory and mandatory training elements required to prepare students for practice areas, this specifically includes delivery of Basic Life Support and Patient Moving and Handling.
The specific content contributes to Statutory and Mandatory education as mapped to the professional standards outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC). This involves working closely with internal teams and key stakeholders to ensure services are efficient, compliant, and aligned to the University priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Stat and Mand Coordination: Liaise with academic staff to ensure statutory and mandatory teaching provision is delivered. This is balanced with other teaching, marking and core business responsibilities that form the general role of an academic.
- Student Support: Be a lead facilitator for a range of Statutory, Mandatory and clinical skills sessions.
- Personal Academic Tutor: Provide pastoral support and signpost to welfare services within BCU to enable learners to optimise their academic performance and practical application of knowledge.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with multiple professions to deliver contemporary, evidence-based content which supports practice learning exposures as well as compliance with legal statutes, frameworks and governing body expectations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
