Role Overview

This important role within the Department of Chemistry has responsibility for keeping the Department's five lecture theatres and five meeting rooms running smoothly, including ensuring all the equipment is working correctly, and when able, providing general assistance in a teaching laboratory. Also playing an active part in the exam process annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting up all aspects of the lecture theatres and meeting rooms
  • Managing the booking and scheduling of lectures and meetings
  • Ensuring audio-visual equipment is working in the theatres and rooms
  • Assisting with demonstrations
  • Providing lecture handouts
  • Video capturing lectures using Panopto
  • Collaborating with the Teaching Office

Working Hours

  • Saturday morning working is required during term time
  • Involvement in some outreach work

Qualifications and Skills

  • Science related BTEC or equivalent
  • Ability to think clearly and quickly under pressure
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels
  • Experience in using audio-visual equipment and/or Panopto would be beneficial
  • Experience of working in a chemical laboratory, although training will be provided
