The Team You Will Join
Our Private Wealth Disputes team sits within the wider Private Client Division. The team has the strength and depth of expertise to ensure they deliver the service you would expect in respect of technical quality, practical approach, and timeliness of advice. We act as trusted advisers to individuals, families, trustees, family or owner-run businesses, and charities both in the UK and internationally.
The team places particular priority on continuity and fostering close long-term relationships with contacts and clients in order to provide practical advice and personal solutions. Birketts' Private Wealth Disputes practice is recognised as a market leader, with Band 1 ranking in the Chambers High Net Worth 2025 guide for Private Wealth Disputes in East Anglia and individual team members recognised among the leading practitioners in the field.
The team is also ranked in Tier 1 for Contentious Trusts and Probate by Legal 500, reflecting its work in handling complex, high-value, and often precedent-setting disputes involving trusts, estates, inheritance claims, professional negligence matters dealing with matters in the UK and internationally.
With one of the largest dedicated Private Wealth Disputes teams outside London, the team acts on some of the most challenging and sophisticated cases in the market, combining technical excellence with a collaborative and supportive culture that provides outstanding opportunities for ambitious lawyers to develop their practice.
The Work You Will Be Doing
- Play a key role in supporting the team through the full lifecycle of matters, from file opening through to completion and closure.
- Produce, format, and amend a wide range of legal documents, ensuring accuracy and consistency with Birketts' house style.
- Manage client onboarding and compliance processes, including new client and matter set-up, anti-money laundering documentation, and other key administrative procedures.
- Act as a first point of contact for internal and external enquiries, providing a professional and responsive service.
- Coordinate diaries, schedule meetings, and arrange travel, helping fee earners manage their time effectively.
- Provide proactive administrative support to the wider team, contributing to the efficient day-to-day running of the department.

What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience of working in an administrator role
- Proficient with Microsoft Office packages (Excel and Word)
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Proven organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A positive attitude as well as being a strong team player
- Experience of working in a law firm or professional services would be advantageous
Hybrid Working
Birketts is a flexible business which has embraced a hybrid working model where our colleagues enjoy a mix of home and office working. During your 3-month probation period, there will be a requirement to be in the office full time whilst you are developing in the role.
Once you have successfully passed probation, this role attracts a split of 60% office days and 40% working from home days per week.
