Job Overview
Join our Cancer Services Team and play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality cancer care.
As a Team Coordinator, you'll work closely with clinical teams, Cancer Services Managers and partner organisations to coordinate weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, ensuring patients receive timely and effective care throughout their cancer pathway.
We are looking for an experienced administrator to work closely with the Cancer Services Managers and key cancer stakeholders of each MDT and liaise and communicate effectively with named MDT coordinators in other Trusts to ensure the efficient transfer of patients between organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate weekly cancer MDT meetings.
- Prepare patient case lists and meeting documentation.
- Monitor and support cancer waiting time targets.
- Maintain accurate patient records and outcomes data.
- Work closely with clinical teams and external NHS organisations.
- Identify and escalate potential delays in patient pathways.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will prepare the lists of patients for discussion at each MDT meetings, ensure the NHS cancer waiting times data for the 28, 31 and 62 day targets is collected, identify potential cancer waiting times breaches, lead in the development of operational processes for each cancer MDT, facilitate the weekly MDT meetings and be responsible for the efficient and timely collection of accurate data, accurately and prospectively record in the Somerset Cancer Register all outcomes at the time of MDT and ensure outcomes recommended by the team are distributed to all core members in an agreed time after the meeting.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Foundation degree, Higher National Certificate or Diploma, Vocational Qualification Level 4 or 5
- Ability to proactively identified own training needs and identify training opportunities
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent knowledge of computerised databases and Microsoft Office
- Minimum 2 years experience within the NHS
- Detailed knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of cancer and its management with an ability to gain skills and knowledge in a rapidly changing field

Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of cancer pathways
- Previous experience of the Somerset Cancer Register
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent IT skills - email, internet, Microsoft Office and databases
- Excellent analytical, numerical and presentation skills
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of hospital patient administration systems, pathology, imaging and other clinical databases
