Role Description
The Team Lead role at Devon County Council is a full-time, on-site position based in Devon. The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations within a designated service area, providing clear direction, support, and supervision to team members. This role involves planning and prioritising workloads, monitoring performance against objectives, and ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with council policies and statutory requirements.

The Team Lead will coordinate with other departments and external partners, manage resources and budgets within their remit, and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and implementing service enhancements. The role also includes mentoring and developing staff, handling complex enquiries or escalations, and preparing reports or documentation to support decision-making and compliance.

Qualifications
- Proven people leadership skills, including team supervision, performance management, and staff development.
- Experience in service delivery or operations management within a public sector or similarly complex environment.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and service users.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle sensitive or complex issues appropriately.
- Good understanding of governance, compliance, and safeguarding principles relevant to local authority services.
- Competence in using ICT systems and data to monitor performance, produce reports, and support decision-making.
- Relevant professional experience and, ideally, a qualification in management, public administration, social care, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
