Job Description

Service Leader

Location: Huddersfield
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent (Would consider someone temporarily)
Salary: £35K pa Competitive + Benefits (Negotiable depending on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours – Monday – Friday 9-5 pm

Are you an experienced leader in health and social care who is passionate about delivering outstanding person-centred support and has experience within an Extra Care scheme?

We're looking for an inspirational Service Leader to lead, develop and motivate a dedicated team, ensuring people we support receive the highest standards of care while living fulfilling, independent lives.

If you have good experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and ASD, we welcome someone with strong experience in a similar scheme.

The Role

As Service Leader, you will have overall responsibility for the operational leadership of a supported living service comprising 50 service users across 40 self-contained flats, including 10 shared occupancy properties and 30 single-occupancy flats. You will ensure the delivery of exceptional person-centred care, regulatory compliance, effective financial management, and a culture of continuous quality improvement.

Leading by example, you will inspire, coach and empower your team to deliver outstanding support every day. You will champion innovation, positive risk-taking and person-led care, enabling the people we support to live fulfilling, independent lives while achieving the highest standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead, motivate and inspire a high-performing care team.

Service Delivery

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support
  • Ensure care plans are regularly reviewed and tailored to individual needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement using quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement action plans where required.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, professionals and community organisations.
  • Encourage active involvement of the people we support in shaping their own care.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure services consistently meet CQC and contractual requirements.
  • Lead safeguarding, risk management and clinical governance.
  • Maintain the highest legal, regulatory and professional standards.
  • Promote positive risk enablement whilst ensuring safe practice.

Financial Management

  • Manage service budgets effectively.
  • Monitor staffing levels and agency usage.
  • Deliver services within budget whilst maintaining excellent quality.
  • Support sustainable service growth and occupancy.

Innovation

  • Champion new ways of working and digital solutions.
  • Support organisational transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage community engagement and meaningful opportunities for those we support.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous management experience within Health & Social Care/ Extra Care scheme
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives.
  • Good IT and digital skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or equivalent), Registered Nurse, Social Worker or similar professional qualification.
  • Experience working within CQC regulated services.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
