Are you an experienced Children's Nurse looking for the next step in your leadership career?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Team Lead for our Community Children's Nursing and Specialist School Nursing Team in East Berkshire.

Based at Upton Hospital, Slough, you will provide operational and clinical leadership to a dedicated team supporting children and young people with complex health needs across homes, schools, special schools and respite settings. This is an exciting opportunity to influence service development, support staff development and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-agency partners to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

The role combines leadership, clinical expertise and service improvement, offering variety and the chance to make a meaningful difference to children, young people and their families.

Flexible working opportunities are available, with community-based working across East Berkshire and some potential for agile working where service needs allow.

Part time/ flexible working may be considered within core hours of 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Community Children's Nursing and Specialist School Nursing Team across East Berkshire.
  • Deliver and oversee high-quality nursing care for children and young people with complex and long-term health needs.
  • Manage a small clinical caseload and support staff with complex clinical decision-making.
  • Provide management supervision and annual appraisals for team members.
  • Lead workforce planning, rota coordination and management of staff absence.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager and Practice Development Leads to support service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver competency-based clinical training and assessments for families, school staff and healthcare professionals.
  • Support safeguarding processes and ensure compliance with clinical governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies to ensure coordinated, child-centred care.
  • Contribute to audit, service evaluation and ongoing improvement of specialist children's services.
